The Osun State Police Command has announced the arrest of three suspects linked to the alleged ritual killing of 38-year-old Lasisi Funmilayo Oluwamayokun, a Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, personnel of the Ogun State Sector Command, and her 12-year-old daughter, Lasisi Sewa.
The suspects are 38-year-old Fajemirokun Victor, 39-year-old Gboyega Daramola, also known as Abere Ifa, and 38-year-old Sunday James.
A statement by the Commissioner of Police, Osun State Police Command, CP Ibrahim Gotan, on Wednesday in Osogbo revealed that the case began on November 10, 2025, when a missing person report was filed at the Ikoyi Police Divisional Headquarters.
The report indicated that one Fajemirokun Victor, 40, had been missing since November 2, after travelling from Osogbo to Ikoyi Prayer Mountain for prayer activities.
Police said: “Victor’s mobile phones were switched off, and initial efforts to trace him were unsuccessful.
“The case was subsequently transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, which recovered his Toyota Corolla along the Ibadan-Ife Expressway during preliminary investigations.
“Detectives combed surrounding bushes but found no early signs of kidnapping or homicide. However, further intelligence-led investigations led to a breakthrough on November 16.
“On that date, officers arrested one Gboyega Daramola, also known as ‘Abere Ifa’, who was confirmed to be an herbalist. He confessed that one Fajemirokun Victor was one of his customers.
“He stated that on November 2, a woman and her daughter were brought to him by Victor for money ritual and had been killed.”
Daramola reportedly named additional accomplices, including one Sunday James, along with two others identified as Kehinde and Idowu.”
Police further said: “However, on November 17, Daramola led detectives to Esa-Odo Dam, where they recovered the body of 38-year-old Oluwamayokun. Officers noted that several vital body parts were missing.
“Further investigations on November 20 led to the arrest of Sunday James in Ekiti State, where he was said hiding. He confessed to slaughtering both mother and daughter on the instructions of his boss, the herbalist.”
James subsequently guided officers to the remains of the 12-year-old, Sewa Lasisi, in a bush.
“Her body was also found mutilated, with several parts missing. Both bodies were deposited at the UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital morgue,” the police statement added.
Police revealed that Victor, described as the mastermind of the killings, initially fled but, with the assistance of INTERPOL, was arrested in Ghana and repatriated to Nigeria.
“The suspect is currently in custody and has confessed to the crime,” the statement noted.
Gotan, who maintained that efforts were ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects, Kehinde and Idowu, who are still at large, added that all arrested suspects would be charged in court upon completion of investigations.
