The Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Kunle Salako, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare at the grassroots, announcing the designation of the Oke-Odan Primary Health Centre as an outstation of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta.

Dr. Salako made the announcement on Saturday in Oke-Odan, Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State, during the commissioning of the renovated and newly equipped Oke-Odan Health Centre. The renovation project was undertaken by the Oke-Odan G30 Development Association as part of activities marking the 2025 Oke-Odan Festival.

The Minister commended the association for its intervention, noting that government alone cannot meet all community needs due to resource constraints. He advised the group to establish a revolving maintenance fund to ensure uninterrupted operations of the facility pending formal government takeover, adding that he would personally contribute to the fund.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Project Committee, Dr. Haroun Ajibode; Chairman of Oke-Odan G30, Otunba Abayomi Oluyomi; and the Oloke-Odan of Oke-Odan, Oba (Dr.) Olurotimi Fagbenro, appealed to the Minister to facilitate a government-community partnership for the full management of the centre.

In his goodwill message, the Member representing Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Abiodun Isiaq Akinlade, lauded the G30 Association for its dedication to improving healthcare in the community and pledged to support the centre with additional medical equipment.

Other dignitaries present included the Onihunbo of Ihunbo, Oba Joseph Adesiyan; the Aro of Oke-Odan, Alhaji Alli Ajibode; the Ogboye of Oke-Odan, Chief Adetunji Ebo; and Mr. Emmanuel Adeleye.
