A 45-year-old South African man attempted to commit suic!de after he was rejected by his ex-lover and mother of his 12-year-old daughter.

The incident occurred on Monday, November 11, 2025 in Hilltop, KZN.

According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), officers arrived on the scene and were informed that the man arrived at the location earlier in the day to visit his 12-year-old child.

The child’s mother, who was at work, asked him to wait until she returned home so she could be present during the visit.

The man was reportedly intoxicated and tried to rekindle a relationship with the woman.

He walked into a nearby bush and attempted to hang himself from a tree using a piece of wire after she declined his proposal.

Members of the public who witnessed the incident rushed to assist and managed to cut him down from the tree.

The male was not injured and declined medical attention.
