Man, 71, arrested for allegedly killing 67-yr-old wife

A 71-year-old man, Jeriel Clifford Peter, has been arrested for allegedly killing his 67-year-old wife, Miltha Jeriel.

‎The Adamawa State Police Command arrested the man after he allegedly hit the wife to death during a dispute in Demsa Local Government Area.

‎A statement by the image maker of the Adamawa State Command of the Nigeria Police, SP Sulaiman Nguroje said the incident occurred on Thursday, November 6, 2025, after a misunderstanding at a bar escalated into violence.

Nguroje explained that during the altercation, the suspect reportedly struck the wife multiple times with a knife and an axe.

‎”Upon receiving a distress call, police operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer of Demsa Division swiftly arrived at the scene,” Nguroje stated, adding that the victim was rushed to the hospital but died while receiving treatment.

“Her body has been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy,” the police PPRO said.

‎Nguroje said the suspect was immediately apprehended, and the weapons used in the attack, a knife and an axe were recovered as exhibits.

‎Condemning the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, described the act as inhuman and directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yola, to take over the case and ensure a thorough investigation
