Stalwarts of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State have expressed delight over Governor Douye Diri’s defection to the party.
The party stalwarts made this known during a formal defection and reception ceremony in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Chief Pastor Reuben Wilson, Chief Blankson Ozomkeme, and Prince Ebitimi Amgbare, who spoke to newsmen at the sidelines of the event welcomed Governor Diri’s decision, stating that it will bring unprecedented development and peace to the state.
They described the Governor’s decision to join the APC as the right step and praised Governor Diri’s humane leadership style and disposition, saying it will be an asset to the party.
The trio also described him as a unifier and bridge-builder who will further strengthen and unite the APC.
The APC Stalwarts urged opposition politicians to follow Governor Diri’s footsteps, citing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s impressive development record.
They also called on Bayelsans to continue supporting the President’s transformative policies and programs.
Meanwhile, Senator Friday Benson Kombiwei, representing the Central Senatorial District, has welcomed Governor Douye Diri’s decision to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Senator Kombiwei stated that as a team player, he and others who support Governor Diri have decided to follow him into the APC and expressed enthusiasm about the development, citing the potential benefits of joining the ruling party and keying into the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Senator appreciated Governor Diri’s decision, noting that it will likely attract more development projects to Bayelsa State, emphasizing the importance of aligning with the federal government to access resources and support for the state’s growth and development.
