Says cult members are determined to assassinate her son
Mrs Faleye Aderounke Abigail looked worried and agitated. She remained very uneasy despite numerous fans that worked simultaneously to mitigate the suffocating heat in the sprawling living room she was attending to visitors, the fans were in their highest gears, yet she was sweating and intermittently wiping the sweat on her face.
There was every reason for the distraught woman who resides at 14, Bamiji Lawal Street, Bariga Lagos to be worried. Besides, Mrs Faleye Aderounke Abigail mother of Anuoluwapo Abiodun Faleye, whose life being constantly under threat, peace has also eluded her and her son, Anuoluwapo Abiodun Faleye, courtesy of a gang of cult members who have made it a duty to harass the woman and threatening to summarily killed her son, Anuoluwapo Abiodun Faleye, whenever the group sets eyes on him.
Mrs Faleye’s fear became so intense as only recently, one of the close friends of her son, Adekunle Beyioku nearly lost his life as the daredevil hoodlums came calling.
Speaking to our Correspondent, Mrs Faleye said “I am calling to let the people of the world, Lagos State, and Nigeria know of an attempt on my son’s life by some cultists, thugs and hoodlums,”.
While there had been several attacks with destruction in my property by these derelicts of the society, the cultists have renewed their threat, the last time they came, a friend of my son who also attends the same school with him was shot at when he came to visit me just recently.
“My Son, Anuoluwapo Abiodun Faleye, had on several occasions being harassed to be part of a cultists group, several attempts were made for him to be part of the group, but on each occasion, he vehemently refused.
They accused him of knowing much about their operations and witnessed some of their heinous activities, especially a day that they allegedly killed one student for disobeying their order.
“Why I am now worried was that just yesterday, I received a call that some unknown faces were parading around my home in Bariga, they all wore black attire and sang all these cultists songs. I hurriedly left where I was, and on getting home what I saw seriously horrified me, I was terrified that despite the government campaign against cultism, these people still have the effrontery to be threatening innocent lives and remain untouched.
If you had come yesterday, all this my property was scattered.
“I asked one of the boys, and their response was that they have not come for me, but my son, Anuoluwapo Abiodun Faleye,, who despite knowing much about their activities, failed to join them, saying that Anuoluwapo Abiodun Faleye, had remained a threat to the group.
As I was letting them see reason and told them that Abiodun is not around again, “From nowhere, one Baruwa came out and started breaking bottles in front of me. The particles of the broken bottles inflicted injuries on some people.”
She said: “One of the ‘boys’ came to the scene with a gun, corked the gun, threatened me and people started scampering into safety.
She lamented that despite the onslaught against the cult members by the police in Nigeria and Lagos state in particular, there have been increasing cases of killing and violent clashes.
It was gathered that activities of the different cult groups aggravated the violence that characterised the EndSARS protest in some parts of the Country. Cult members were said to be responsible for some of the attacks on police formations and businesses. Cult members have also been linked to the upsurge in crimes in different communities in the state.
