The National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) has directed its members to withdraw their services across the country.
The directive was conveyed in a memo on Wednesday, signed by Dominic Igwebike, acting general secretary of NUEE.
The association said the decision was taken after the expiration of its ultimatum to the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on staff welfare issues.
The NUEE said the issues include the non-implementation of the national minimum wage, casualisation of workers, a lack of working tools and materials, non-payment of staff salaries since April 2025, and a lack of operational vehicles.
The union further accused the TCN of failing to provide personal protective equipment (PPE) since 2021, neglecting issues arising from its unbundling, and defaulting on the payment of retirement benefits.
“It is unfortunate that the TCN Management has decided to handle these issues with kid gloves and lack of regards for the hard-working staff of TCN,” the group said.
“This, they have displayed without any defined road map(s) to addressing them.
“We cannot continue to fold our arms while we watch our rights being vehemently violated and Nigeria Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) going down the drain.
“To this end, the Union is compelled to withdraw its services.
“Members are hereby directed to withdraw services to such time that the Management is ready to discharge its obligations towards the workforce.”
The association said the directive takes immediate effect and urged members to ensure full compliance
