Suspected thieves have killed Salisu Sale, a 75-year-old farmer popularly known as Salisu Mai Bulo, in Faruruwa village, Takai Local Government Area of Kano State.

The attack occurred on Friday when the suspects allegedly went to steal sugarcane from his farm and the deceased tried to stop them.

Family sources alleged that the attackers stabbed him in the chest and neck, leading to his death.

The deceased’s son, Haladu Salisu, told Journalists that the family found his father’s body in a horrific state after being alerted.

According to him, one of his sisters heard the old man crying for help and even calling the name of one of his attackers.

“After we recovered his body, the police came, took photographs, and gave us permission to bury him.

Later, our younger sister revealed that she heard our father shouting the name of one of the attackers while struggling for his life,” Haladu explained.

However, after the burial, angry residents took the law into their own hands. They reportedly apprehended two of the suspects and killed them instantly.

One was beaten to death, while the second—whose name had been mentioned by the dying farmer—was also lynched and his body set ablaze.
