The police in Ondo state have arrested one Eze Elechi Amadi over the brutal murder of his 18-year-old younger brother, Otu Ifeanyi. over a financial dispute involving N20,000.
While parading the suspect before newsmen on Friday, September 5, the state Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, said on August 26, 2025, at approximately 3:00 p.m.,one Oluwafemi Oladipupo of Paragon Street, Kajola, reported a suspicious blue plastic drum tied with a black rope outside his residence.
‘’Upon inspection, authorities found the lifeless body of Otu Ifeanyi stuffed inside the drum, which Amadi was attempting to dispose of using a motorcycle. The drum fell off during transport, leading to his immediate apprehension.”
The police boss said the corpse has been deposited at the mortuary, and further investigation is ongoing
He stated that during interrogation, Amadi confessed to killing his younger brother, alleging that Ifeanyi had unlawfully transferred N20,000 from his bank account.
“The corpse has been deposited at the mortuary, and further investigation is ongoing. The suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation,” Lawal said
The police commissioner also highlighted the arrest of 99 other suspects across the state’s 18 council areas, linked to crimes including murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, drug possession, and theft. Lawal credited the success of these arrests to the collaborative efforts of the police and the community, emphasizing the importance of timely information from residents.
