President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has outlined the key benefits of Nigeria’s participation in the ongoing ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9), stressing opportunities for trade, green innovation, and youth empowerment.

Tinubu, who arrived in Tokyo earlier this week, joined fellow heads of state and global leaders at the three-day summit holding at the Pacifico Yokohama International Conference Centre from August 20–22.

In a statement shared via his official social media platforms, the President said Nigeria’s engagement at TICAD9 is geared toward unlocking over $1 billion in trade and investment, boosting industrial growth, and creating new opportunities for young people.

“The summit provides a launchpad for lasting development and global partnerships, anchored on technology, talent, and trust,” Tinubu stated, adding that Nigeria aims to strengthen its position as the gateway to West Africa’s vast market.

He further expressed optimism that the country’s active involvement would not only consolidate its leadership role in Africa but also deepen collaboration with Japan and other international partners.
