Governor Okpebholo made this known on Friday while addressing a large crowd at the Government House in Benin City during a victory parade organized in celebration of his Supreme Court victory.

The celebration followed the apex court’s judgment which upheld the September 21, 2024 governorship election result and affirmed the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the rightful winner, confirming Okpebholo as the duly elected governor of Edo State.

Returning from Abuja alongside his Deputy, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, the governor was received by a jubilant crowd comprising APC supporters, youths, market women, civil servants, and members of professional associations. The crowd escorted the governor in a motorcade from the Benin Airport to the Government House.

Speaking to the crowd, Governor Okpebholo expressed gratitude to God, the judiciary, and the people of Edo State.

“I thank God Almighty for this victory. I thank you all for standing by us through thick and thin. Now, it is time to work,” he declared.

The governor then revealed his administration’s intention to investigate the previous administration under former Governor Godwin Obaseki, stating that the people deserve transparency and accountability.

“We will look into the books. Edo people deserve to know how their resources were used. This is not about vengeance—it is about responsibility. A Commission of Inquiry will be established to probe how public funds were managed and how institutions were run,” he stated.

Governor Okpebholo also assured the citizens of a new era of development, pledging massive transformation in the next two years.

“Edo people will know they have a governor. In two years, we will lay the foundations for a greater Edo. Our focus is on infrastructure, education, health, jobs, and restoring dignity to governance,” he said.

Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa also addressed the gathering, promising a government that listens and delivers.

“We are committed to youth empowerment, women inclusion, and grassroots development. This is a government for everyone,” Idahosa said.

The victory parade ended with cultural displays, music, and dances, as residents expressed renewed hope in the APC-led administration.
