A High Court in Kano has sentenced one Aminu Muhammad to death by hanging.
Justice Maryam Sabo delivered the judgement on Wednesday at Miller Road after she found the young man guilty of killing a three-year-old, Rafi’atu Junaidu Jibga village, Bebeji Local Government Area.

During the long trial, the prosecuting counsel, Barrister Badawiyya Shehu Bala, called three witnesses, while the defense presented only one item of evidence.

Justice Sabo stated that the court was satisfied with the evidence provided by the prosecution, which proved the accused guilt beyond reasonable doubt.

According to court findings, Aminu lured the young girl from her home to a nearby farm where he strangled her, then slit her stomach open using a bottle and removed her intestines.

The man carried out the gruesome act after he was promised N400,000 by an unnamed individual.

Justice Sabo, in her ruling, described the act as “inhumane and brutal,” emphasizing that the sentence serves deterrent to others.
