President Bola Tinubu has appointed principal officers for the Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta, Ogun State, and the Federal College of Education (Technical), Yauri, Kebbi State.
A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced the appointment of Professor Fatiu Abiola Arogundade as Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta.
Also appointed are Dr. Obayomi Gregory as Registrar, Mrs. Adedokun Omolola Olufunso as Bursar, and Dr. Idiat Odunola Agboola as University Librarian.

Professor Arogundade, a professor of medicine at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, currently serves as the College Registrar of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, Ijanikin.
With over 33 years of experience in teaching, research, and administration, he is a Fellow of the International Society of Nephrology and has led groundbreaking medical research initiatives, securing significant research grants from 2012 to 2023.
Dr. Gregory, the newly appointed registrar, has been Deputy Registrar at the National Mathematical Centre, Abuja. Mrs. Olufunso, a Chartered Accountant, previously served as Deputy Bursar at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, while Dr. Agboola was an Associate Professor of Library Science at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.
President Tinubu urged the new officers to provide visionary leadership and lay a strong foundation for the university’s growth and development.
He expressed confidence in their ability to drive the institution—established in 2023—towards producing world-class medical professionals.
Similarly, Tinubu appointed Professor Sa’adu Umar as Provost of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Yauri, Kebbi State.
Others appointed include Mr. Abdullahi Ahmed as Registrar, Dr. Muhammad Yusuf Alkali as Bursar, and Mrs. Maimuna Mohammed Ahmed as Librarian.
Professor Umar, a professor of Agricultural Extension, is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) at Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero.
He is recognized for his contributions to academic leadership and educational development.
Mr. Ahmed, formerly Deputy Registrar at the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, has served in various administrative roles at the Federal College of Education (Technical), Potiskum, Yobe State.
Dr. Alkali, a former Dean of the School of Accountancy and Finance at Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi, and Mrs. Ahmed, who was the College Librarian at the Niger State College of Nursing Sciences, Minna, complete the leadership team.
According to the Federal Colleges of Education Act, 2023, the tenure of principal officers at the Federal College of Education (Technical), Yauri, Kebbi State, is set at five years, with no extensions.
Established by an Act of the National Assembly, the Federal College of Education (Technical), Yauri, offers full-time courses in teaching, instruction, and training across various disciplines, including technology, applied sciences, arts, social sciences, humanities, and management.
