Woman arraigned for allegedly setting husband on fire in Kano

A married woman has been arraigned in a Kano court on Monday, for allegedly setting her husband on fire after pouring petrol on him, following a dispute over his new wife.

According to reports, the incident occurred when the husband was in the room of his new wife.

The accused demanded that he come out, but he refused. In response, she allegedly doused him with petrol and set him ablaze, causing severe burns.

The prosecuting counsel, Saima Garba, charged the woman with attempted murder before Magistrate Court No. 25. However, she pleaded not guilty.

Presiding Judge Halima Wali ordered her remand in prison custody and adjourned the case for two weeks
