The Rotary Club of Abeokuta Metro, District 9111, Nigeria, recently organized a successful Rotary Family Health Days (RFHDs) event, providing free medical services to underserved communities.
The event, held on February 13, 2025, at the Itoko Health Centre, Itoko, Abeokuta, was part of the club’s community health project, aimed at promoting healthy living and lifestyles.
Rotarian Bisayo Catherine Oyekan-Ogundeji, Chairperson of the Club Committee on RFHD, in her welcome address emphasized the significance of providing such services, stating, “It takes healthy citizens to grow and contribute to the growth and development of the community.”
The event offered comprehensive health screenings, including HIV, malaria, and blood pressure tests, as well as immunizations, referrals to healthcare, pre- and post-test counseling, educational materials, and consumable items.
Rotarian Babatunde Aremu, representing the President of the club, Rotarian Abiodun Ogundaini, advised participants to take advantage of the free medical services and support organizations like Rotary and government initiatives through their Community Social Responsibility initiatives.
Rotarian Olatunji Ola-Davies, a Past President of Rotary Club of Abeokuta Metropolitan while addressing the participants mentioned the Seven Areas of focus of Rotary such as Peace Building and Conflict Prevention, Basic Education and Literacy Project, Water and Health Sanitation, Disease Prevention, Maternal Health, Tree Planting as some of the platforms where Rotary explore in Doing Good in various communities as he mentioned several projects such as Borehole, School Renovations and so on that Rotary has executed within the Abeokuta metropolis and it’s surrounding environment
Mrs Yinka Kalejaiye a beneficiary appreciated Rotary International for the benevolence as she recommended that other meaningful groups should find a way of complimenting Government and Rotary International making life’s more better for the Citizens.
The Rotary Club of Abeokuta Metro has demonstrated its commitment to community development, aligning with Rotary’s Seven Areas of Focus, which include Peace Building and Conflict Prevention, Basic Education and Literacy Project, Water and Health Sanitation, Disease Prevention, Maternal Health, and Tree Planting.
