Nemesis has caught up with a middle-aged wife for allegedly killing her husband while sleeping in the night.

The suspected wife, Fatima Dzuma, 27 years was said to have taken the life of her late husband because of a scuffle they had before both retired to bed the previous night.

Niger State Police Command through its Spokesman, Superintendent of Police Wasiu Abiodun confirmed the incident adding that the suspect used a pestle to smash her husband’s head to death while sleeping.

The PPRO said at about 6 am on the 31st of last December, a suspected lifeless body of one Baba Aliyu 25yrs of Lafiagi Dzwafu village via Katcha was found in a nearby bush.

He said Police operatives of Katcha Div moved to the scene and preliminary investigation revealed that the victim’s wife Fatima Dzuma 27yrs narrated that there was an altercation between them over the night and she was beaten by her husband.

The PPRO said, “As a result of the scuffle, the suspect waited until when the husband was asleep after which she used a pestle to strike him on the head which led to his death.

“She later tied the deceased with clothes and rope and rolled the corpse to a nearby bush with a mat,” the PPRO confirmed.

The corpse has been deposited at the General Hospital Bida for post-mortem while the suspect has been transferred to SCID Minna for further investigation and prosecution

Meanwhile, a suspected kidnapper has been arrested in Mariga local government area of the state.
The suspect, Aminu Amale, aged 45 years of Shadadi in Mariga local government area, Niger state had demanded a sum of N9.5m from a farmer before he would be allowed to evacuate the guinea corn he had harvested from his farm home.

The Public Relations Officer of the state Police Command, Superintendent of Police Wasiu Abiodun who confirmed the incident said “On the 27th of December last year at about 4 pm, a complaint was received from Kakuza Village, via Kumbashi, Mariga LGA that on 24/12/2025 at about 8 am, a farmer got to his farm and found a written letter with a phone number attached to the guinea corn harvested, requesting the farmer to pay a sum of nine million, five hundred thousand naira (#9.5m) before he could be allowed to evacuate the guinea corn or else be kidnapped.

“With the aid of technical intelligence, one Aminu Amale 45yrs of Shadadi village, Mariga LGA was arrested in connection to the letter and during interrogation, he confessed to the crime and claimed that he needed money to sort out some personal challenges.”


Meanwhile, the suspect has been transferred to SCID Minna for further investigation and prosecution
