The alumni of African Church Grammar School (ACGS), Ibadan have donated school uniforms to current students as part of efforts to give back to their alma mater.

President of the association, Mr. Omosanya Oladipupo, who led some members of the association to make the donations, disclosed that a total of 55 students selected from both the junior and senior categories were captured in the exercise.

Oladipupo said the gesture was part of the activities lined up to celebrate the 2024 Reunion of the alumni clubset which would bring together old students, teachers and friends of the prestigious institution.

He expressed pride in associating with the school, emphasising its role as a foundation for the success of the alumni members.

The association president encouraged the students to be diligent, pay attention to their teachers and focus on their studies, expressing optimism that they would become good ambassadors of the school in the future.

Oladipupo thanked the Principal and teaching staff of the school for organising the reception, acknowledging that it would motivate the alumni to continue giving back to the school.

In further demonstration of their commitment to the institution’s growth and development, he assured the school that the alumni members would return to do great things.

He said, “We are here on behalf of our members to present these school uniforms. We were once like these young students. Thank God we are still alive and we are doing well in the society. This school is our foundation and we are proud to associate with it.

“I just want to implore everyone of you to be diligent, pay attention to your teachers and as well face your studies. I believe that in the nearest future, you too will come back to this school and make the school proud.”

“I thank the Principal specially for organising this reception. It will go a long way to further motivate us. I can assure you that soon, we will come back to do great things in the school,” Oladipupo added.

Responding, the school Principal, Mrs. Felicia Ajayi, warmly welcomed the alumni delegation to the school premises in Apata Ganga, Ibadan and commended the donors for their kind gesture.

She emphasised the importance of the alumni’s visit, highlighting the inspiration and motivation it would bring to the current students while encouraging them to emulate the examples set by their predecessors.

The Principal, who reiterated the school’s commitment to maintaining strong relationships with its alumni, said the institution would always welcome more support to uplift both the students and facilities of the school.

Meanwhile, preparations are in top gear to host the 2024 Reunion of the association which will take place at the Ilaji Resort, Ibadan on 28th and 29th December.

The event, according to the President, aims to reconnect old students, recognise outstanding achievements and raise funds for the development of the alma mater.

Oladipupo said, “The African Church Grammar School Old Students Association ’97 Set is an association dedicated to promoting the welfare and development of our alma mater while fostering a sense of community and camaraderie among old students.”

“The forthcoming reunion is a testament to the enduring bonds and spirit of African Church Grammar School. We are excited to reunite with our colleagues and to give back to our school. The reunion, which will also feature a novelty football match, promises to be an unforgettable experience, filled with nostalgia and celebration.”
