National and international Scholars, professionals, researchers and leaders of thought, have ended a historic 3-Day Conference in Caleb University Imota Lagos, during which 115 of them presented papers and participated in robust sessions to chart a new course at the 2024 edition of the Institution’s AnnualDisruptiveInnovationConference.
This 4th edition of the conference was organised in collaboration with
Lancaster University, UK and University of KwaZulu Natal (UKZN), South Africa, with the theme ‘Leveraging, Technological Innovations to Create the New Normal World.’
The 2024 Conference, following the tradition of the previous 2021, 2022 and 2023 editions, created a strategic platform which assembled some of the world’s brightest minds to proper sustainable solutions to global challenges.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof Nosa Owens-Ibie, in his welcome remarks reflected on the existential crisis of development nationally and globally, highlighting the need for a solutions approach which the Conference was expected to stimulate, within the needed disruptive innovations framework.
In her keynote presentation, Director of Programmes and Partnership, Inov8 International, Israel Neta Hanien, noted that disruptive innovation is about prioritising the user’s needs.
She pointed out that Disruptive Innovation, as defined by Clayton Christensen, is referred to as “innovation that disrupts complex systems, including economic and business-related processes”.
“It transforms expensive or highly sophisticated products or services—previously accessible to a high-end or more-skilled segment of consumers—to those that are more affordable and accessible to a broader population. With Disruptive innovation, organisations identify people’s needs, and use local content to resolve problems.”
Prof. Olalekan Asikhia, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Innovation, Strategy and Administration, Caleb University, in his presentation titled: “Writing Statement of Problem and Literature Review,” stressed that “problem statement should be constructed to highlight the key issues that the research aims to address. It should be concise and to the point. Researchers can follow a two-step approach: first, think about the content of the problem statement, then organise the writing framework,”
The Executive Vice Chairman of LIRS, Mr. Ayo Subair, represented by Yusuf Erinjogunola, commended the University for coming up with the conference theme at this critical time in the country’s history; “CUDIC 2024 is a significant platform that assembles scholars, researchers, and opinion leaders to tackle issues bedevilling our society. The Conference theme resonates strongly with the needs of the rapidly evolving world.”
CITN President, Barr. Olusola Agbeniyi, speaking through the body’s first female Registrar, Mrs. Folake Osho, expressed delight with Caleb University’s role in advancing teaching and research, especially on taxation in the country.

The Conference philosophy is to stimulate innovative thinking through a scholarly presentation of papers that could provide actionable programmes and solutions for the global entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Basking in the euphoria of the recently held 9th Inaugural Lecture; Unveiling seven Centres of Excellence; and hosting an unprecedented inaugural Employability Fair, where 33 CEOs and Captains of Industries mentored and offered jobs on the spot, to Caleb graduating students; the 2024 International Conference will no doubt consolidate the position of the Imota, Lagos based Citadel as a leading global education service provider.
