ZLP sweeps Abia LG election

…YPP wins 2 LGAs

The ruling Labour Party in Abia State has crashed as the little -known Zenith Labour Party, ZLP, swept 15 of the 17 Local Government Areas in the November 2nd council poll in the state.

Meanwhile, the Young Progressives Party, YPP clinched the remaining two LGAs – Ugwunagbo and Osisioma Ngwa.

The results were announced by the Chairman, Abia State Independent Electoral Commission, Prof. Chima George, on Saturday night at the ABSIEC headquarters, Umuahia.

“We have fulfilled the duty we were inaugurated on 5th September to carry out. It wasn’t an easy task but we went beyond and above to raise awareness about the election across the state”, he said.

The election was marred by voter aparthy although it was generally peaceful.
