Rivers LG Election: Heavy shooting at Wike’s ward

There is heavy shooting ongoing at Rumuepirikom Community, the home of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike.

A source in the area revealed that earlier some people had come into the community and announced that people should not come out for the polls.

It was gathered that when the electoral officers were about to arrive at the ward in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, armed bandits arrived in the area, as well.

It was gathered that the unidentified gunmen who arrived in the area under heavy gunfire took the area hostage scaring people from coming out to participate in the election.

It was also gathered that one person sustained a bullet injury and has been rushed to a health facility for treatment
