The President made this remark during a meeting with the newly elected governor and stakeholders of the party at the State House, Abuja, where Okpebholo and his deputy, Dennis Idahosa, presented their Certificates of Return (CoR) following their victory in the just concluded gubernatorial election.

While assuring Okpebholo of support from the Federal Government and the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), Tinubu emphasized the importance of good governance and delivering tangible results to the people of Edo State.

He encouraged the governor-elect to collaborate with experienced APC governors and adopt progressive governance models.

Tinubu highlighted the challenges inherent in democratic governance, especially in emerging democracies like Nigeria, but reiterated that democracy remains the best form of government.

He commended the Edo people for their peaceful participation in the election, with no reports of violence or disturbances, and praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for their roles in ensuring a smooth electoral process.

The President also acknowledged the efforts of APC leaders, including former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole and APC National Chairman Senator Abdullahi Ganduje, who played pivotal roles in the party’s success.

He further praised the dedication of the Edo electorate, referencing their commitment to voting in the rain as a powerful symbol of loyalty to the party.

Senator Ganduje also lauded the support of President Tinubu and the APC stakeholders, noting that the heavy downpour on election day did not deter voters from turning out for the party.

Tinubu concluded by urging the party leadership to stay focused on the “Renewed Hope Agenda” and remain united for future successes.
