The suspects, Umar Muhammad, age 24, Audu Muhammad, 22, and Umar Danda, 22, were alleged to have kidnapped and killed 15-year-old Yahu Muhammad after collecting a ransom of N500,000.

The arrest was reported in a statement obtained by Salient Times from the State Commander, Soji Ganzallo, through the office of the spokesperson, Moruf Yusuf, on Monday.

According to the statement, the victim was kidnapped while rearing cattle in the Akara forest area located in the Abeokuta North local government area of the state.

The statement reads: “On Saturday, September 7, 2024, at about 7 p.m., information reached the Imala Division of the Corps regarding a kidnapping incident.

“A 15-year-old, Yahu Muhammad, was kidnapped, and a ransom of N500,000.00 was collected, but the suspects refused to release him.

“The Special Squad of the Corps at Imala was deployed to rescue the victim unhurt.

Ganzalo added that the victim’s corpse and the suspects have been transferred to the Imala Divisional Police Headquarters for further investigation and likely prosecution.
