In a statement on Thursday, Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos police spokesperson, said the driver reported that Abiola became unconscious and struggled to breathe after receiving the BBL injection.

The statement added that she was rushed to another hospital in Lekki Phase 1, where she was pronounced dead.

“On arrival, the owner of the clinic, instructed a nurse to inject the now-deceased lady, who later became unconscious and started gasping for breath,” he said.

“The victim was rescued and rushed to another hospital in Lekki Phase 1 for treatment, where she was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty. Based on the report, the scene was visited by a team of detectives.

“The hospital was also visited, where the corpse was inspected and photographed before it was evacuated to a public morgue for autopsy.”

Hundeyin also disclosed that a nurse has been arrested over the failed surgery.

He said the nurse was apprehended based on the report received from the police division in the Maroko area on Tuesday.

The police PRO added that there is an ongoing investigation into the matter.
