Contrary to some insinuations in some quarters, the Ogun State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party has debunked rumors of division among its fold.

The State Secretary of the Party Sunday Solarin while addressing some stakeholders of the Party at its Secretariat in Abeokuta said all the State Executives of the Party remain intact saying that the people should disregard any rumour of disloyalty among its fold.

The meeting which was attended by all the Party State Executive Members, the Governorship Candidate of the Party in the 2023 elections, Hin. Ladi Adebutu , National leader of the Party, Chief Akinwunmi and other bigwigs affirmed that PDP will continue to champion the need to provide purposeful governance to the people.

Solarin thanked the people bfor their support while calling for a seamless Congress to elect new Party leadership.

While affirming that the Party remains intact, Hon. Okikiola Ogundele, the son of the Ogun state Chairman of People Democratic Party (PDP), Sikirulai Ogundele, pledge unalloyed support to the Party, ahead of the ward congress of the party

Ogundele with other PDP House of Assembly Candidates in the 2023 general elections, pledged their unwavering loyalty to the party leader during a stakeholders meeting held at the party secretariat in Abeokuta, on Wednesday.

Recall that there have been supremacy battle between the party’s leadership ahead of the 2027 elections, such that it has seemingly factionalized the party leadership.

At a recent meeting held by the Sikirulai Ogundele camp held at the same venue, the chairman had heaped the blame of the party’s loss of the 2023 governorship election on the high-handedness of its governorship candidate.

He said, “The reason why we are not in power today is because of Hon. Ladi Adebutu. 90 per cent of the reasons why we are not in government today were caused by Hon. Ladi Adebutu and this is because of his high-handedness. He does not listen to anybody’s advice.

“Adebutu has been the major reason why the party has been failing since the 2019 election. I don’t think Adebutu himself is interested in becoming the governor.

“Atiku came to Abeokuta twice to plead with Adebutu that we should put OGD (former governor Gbenga Daniel) on the ballot, but he refused. If we had put OGD (Daniel) on the ballot, the party would have won many seats at the election.

“Everybody was aware that Atiku came to Ogun State twice to beg him (Adebutu). Obasanjo too begged him, but he refused to shift ground.”

However, at the meeting of the party on Wednesday, the young Ogundele could be seen joyfully denouncing any other party affiliations other than the Ladi Adebutu, just as pledging his support to the party supremacy under the gubernatorial candidate leadership.

The last has however not been seen on the crisis rocking the Ogun state PDP as it prepares for the ward congresses to usher in new leadership at the grassroot level, which will show the direction the party will take at the state level
