A Caleb University Don, holder of the prestigious Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation award for Scientists and current Head, Department of Biological Sciences and Biotechnology, Caleb University, Imota, Lagos State, Dr. Chinyere Ezeanya-Bakpa, has been appointed the pioneer International Coordinator for Caleb University, of the Africa Research and Innovation Partnership (ARIP), according to Olawale Adekoya, the Information Officer of the Institution.

Launched by Lancaster University, UK, ARIP is a distinctive inter-disciplinary, multi-sectoral consortium facilitating dialogue between institutions to explore collaborative research, training, and capacity building.

ARIP aims to build on communication and capacity building strategies developed from the UK-funded Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF).

Prof Nosa Owens-Ibie, Vice-Chancellor of Caleb University, has noted that the appointment of Dr Ezeanya-Bakpa is “an affirmation of her versatility, productivity and demonstrated alignment with the demands of mainstream research.”

Dr. Ezeanya-Bakpa, who holds a PhD. in Medical Microbiology, has authored research papers presented at both international and national scientific conferences and published in high impact academic and Scopus-indexed journals. Her research has birthed the deposition of a novel organism and 14 others into the International NCBI GenBank.

Renowned for her scholarship in medical microbiology, the Lecturer synergises academics, learning, and sustainable development. She also belongs to the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), American Society for Microbiology (ASM), International Society for Infectious Diseases (ISID), African Society of Laboratory Medicine (ASLM), Biotechnology Society of Nigeria (BSN), and the Nigeria Society of Microbiology (NSM), among others.
