Political thugs kill one, injure six in Lagos

Some group of armed thugs unleashed terror on the Lagos home of a popular politician, Hon. Awotedu Olasunkanmi Olarinmade who was said to be a strong member of People’s Democratic Party in Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital.

It was gathered that the hoodlums invaded the home of Hon. Awotedu Olasunkanmi Olarinmade located at 25B, Alexander Miller Close, Cadogan Place Estate, Lekki Lagos.

However, the incident led to the death of one of the neighbors known as Kolade Lanrewaju.

According to Our Correspondent Kolade Lanrewaju was chased and hacked to death with cutlass.

Meanwhile, another victim of the incident, Tunde Babalola, who escaped, claimed that they were wearing APC shirts and bands and were said to be returning from the All Progressive Congress rally which was held at Ports Authority area in Apapa before the thugs attacked them.

“The attack was according to the thugs a fall out from the series of attacks on Hon. Awotedu Olasunkanmi Olarinmade who had been a thorn in the flesh of APC in Ogun State.

Tunde Babalola said that thugs claimed that they came into Hon. Awotedu Olasunkanmi Olarinmade Lagos residence because the thugs thought that they would meet him there after several attempts to deal with him failed in Abeokuta.

“The thugs were at Hon. Awotedu Olasunkanmi Olarinmade’s Lagos House because they had an information that he was in the house, but unknown to them he and his family were not found in the house as his whereabouts were not know

Luckily, he and his family were not around when they came, as the thugs were hell bent in killing him that day.

Tunde Babalola also narrated how the deceased was cut by cutlass and left to meet his death.

“My three friends and I were lucky to escape with wounds. The thugs cut Lanrewaju in several parts of his body. He died on Sunday morning.”

He was rushed to the Lagos Island General Hospital by some residents of the streets and where he gave up later.

“Nobody knows Lanrewaju family’s house or relatives . Another friend, who was shot, is receiving treatment too in a neighboring area,” he said.

It could be recalled that sometimes in April this year, there was pandemonium in the Obada Oko, Abeokuta North Local Government area of Ogun State as political thugs set a house ablaze while shooting sporadically into the air, leaving one dead and many sustaining varying degrees of injuries.

It was gathered that the now ravaged house was owned by Hon Awotedu Olasunkanmi Olarinmade, a popular social-political activist, whose property was destroyed by the political thugs who are known members of the ruling All Progressive congress in Ogun state due to contrary political views and opinions.

An aged mother of the politician , Awotedu Iyabode Grace said these thugs came in their large numbers armed with guns and other dangerous weapons.
