63rd Independence: Pray for Our Leaders, Stop cursing them, Ogun Speaker, Oluomo urges Christians
On the need for God to arise and turn around Nigeria positively, Rt Hon Olakunle Oluomo, the Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, said the most important action expected of the body of Christ is for them to join politics and contribute their quota.

Hon Oluomo who was the Special Guest at the 2023 DPG Annual Convention themed, “Let God Arise for Nigeria”, organised by the Directorate of Politics and Governance, Region 32 Headquarters, Celebration House Adigbe, Abeokuta in commemoration of the 63rd Nigeria’s Independence, admonished the congregation to be praying for their leaders instead of cursing them according to 2 Timothy 2:1-4 as there’s authority in their tongues.

“It’s unfortunate that Christians want to go to heaven but don’t want to die, same way, they want good governance without willing to participate in politics.
“As the theme of this Convention, have we arise for God firstly before God will arise got us?
“You must be the change you want. Stop saying politics is dirty, remember it takes positive and negative to produce light.
“Don’t believe all the rumours out there; that you must have godfather and join cult. It’s all lies. I don’t have godfather in politics. Jesus Christ is my father. And I don’t belong to any cults.
“I am here today to encourage you; Challenges may come your way in politics, but if you have God, you shall overcome them. In all the elections I have contested, It has been God who helped me all through
“If not God, I would have fallen long time ago. Till date, I can’t remember a Sunday that I have not attended church.
“I beg you, stop cursing politicians, rather be praying for them, and join politics, Oluomo admonished.
Earlier, pastors who spoke have assured the gathering that “when God arises in Nigeria, he will makes way, heal the land, bring about positive Divine turn around, and the sufferings will be over”.
They emphasised the need for the congregation to participate in politics as it’s a ministry by which the presence of God can be manifested.
“This call is important as many occupying political offices today in Nigeria are not representing the interest of God.
“This Ministry is not dictating the political party you should join, but whichever party you belong, make sure you display good character and be the light.
“Don’t let’s leave governance to those who don’t know God”, the Pastors counseled.
