The command spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, announced this in a statement released in Yola on Wednesday.

The suspect, who is a herbalist, is suspected of tricking young girls into engaging in sexual activities with him.

“It happens that on Aug. 12, while the victim was passing by the suspect’s house, he called her into the house and took advantage of her by having an unlawful carnal knowledge of her.

“Investigation so far reveals that the suspect, while committing the act, rubbed some concoction in the form of perfume on the victim, which made the victim ill after the incident.

“It was as a result of the illness when questioned by her mother, she opened up to her about what happened,” he said.

According to Mr Nguroye, the mother of the victim reported the incident to the police headquarters in Ganye.

The commissioner of police, Afolabi Babatola, instructed the officer in charge of the family support unit to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that the suspect is prosecuted diligently.

The commissioner appealed to the public, especially parents, to keep a close eye on their children to protect them from individuals with criminal intentions. He also encouraged residents to report any cases of gender-based violence.
