Mr. Chiemela Victor Ekeke, who raped a four-year-old girl in Umuahia recently, has been jailed for life by a Magistrate’s Court in Umuahia, Abia State.

Ekeke, who is 37 years of age, had after being apprehended by the relatives of the little child, confessed that he was HIV-positive, even with a claim that his viral problem had been “flushed” by his doctor.

Delivering her ruling on the matter, the Presiding Magistrate, N. Lekwa said that the Court had in the last sitting found the accused person guilty of infant defilement.

Before being jailed, the defendant was however discharged on count 1, which is bordered on conspiracy.

A second defendant in the matter was discharged and acquitted, as the Court determined that he had no common intention or anything linking him to the crime.

The prosecuting counsel, Okezuonu Obioma applauded the decision of the Court, saying that it was in tandem with the position of the law in defilement of a minor.

Ekeke had confessed to having carnal knowledge of the minor but pleaded for leniency, claiming that he only used his fingers to touch the private part of the kid while keeping her on his lap.

He further confessed being HIV positive, even though he claimed that his doctor told him his viral load was just small and had already been flushed away.

He also blamed the devil for misleading him
