LP clears air on the FCT High Court Restraining Order on Julius Abure & 3 Others from parading as LP National Officers
Labour Party on Saturday shed more light on the recent court order restraining Barrister Julius Abure and three other Executive members from parading as national executive members of the Party.
Labour Party in a statement issued on Saturday and signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Dr Abayomi Arabambi said the Abuja High Court order is not the same with the Edo High Court ruling.
The Party said “It has come to the knowledge of the LP NWC, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Security Service, DSS and Security Agencies in Nigeria that the FCT High Court Restraining order was hinged on the Nigeria Police Investigation Report that indicted Julius Abure and three (3) others for forgery, perjury and criminal conspiracy.
The Party said “Julius Abure has consistently disobeyed a valid FCT High Court that restrained him and 3 others from parading themselves as National Officers of LP to include: Umar Farouk Ibrahim, National Secretary, Ojukwu Clement, National Organizing Secretary and Okpara Oluchi, National Treasurer.
“It is now evident from this video, the lies, allegations and propaganda peddled by Julius Abure, which he has now deliberately unleashed on the LP NWC, its national leadership and other political parties that have nothing to do with Abure’s forgery, perjury and criminal conspiracy.
“Labour Party faithful and Obidients must now dissociate themselves from Julius Abure who is now inciting public unrest in Nigeria by instigating violence, hate speech, national insecurity and disharmony amongst the different sociocultural groups in Nigerians
“The public must be aware that Julius Abure is wanted by the Nigeria Police for Forgery, perjury and Criminal Conspiracy in a matter between Julius Abure and the Federal Government of Nigeria (Inspector General of Police and the Nigeria Judiciary for perjury) and warrants of arrest have been procured for implementation against Abure and the four (4) others culpable by the Nigeria Police Investigation Report.
“Julius Abure has now adopted a deceitful approach of misinforming innocent members of the public, Labour Party States Executive Council members, the Obidient Movement and sympathizers of Mr Peter Obi to believing that the New LP National leadership will suspend Mr Peter Obi and also withdraw the LP Presidential Election Petition from the Tribunal, as this is unfounded.
“The LP New National Working Committee, NWC under the able Leadership of Lamidi Bashir Apapa has made a public pronouncement as adopted in the LP emergency NWC meeting of Thursday 6th April, 2023 to uphold and continue the Labour Party LP mandate recovery struggle in the presidential election petition tribunal.
“The Benin Court Enrollment order that Julius Abure sought was to stop the Labour Party National Working Committee, NWC and National Executive Council, NEC from implementing the Edo Ward Exco Suspension of Julius Abure as National Chairman of Labour Party; while the FCT High Court RESTRAINING ORDER strictly covers the CRIMINAL CASE he has to answer for now.
“Abure’s approach of using divisive political narratives with ethnic and religious colouration to destroy the New Leadership of Labour Party headed by Alhaji Lamidi Bashir Apapa the Acting National Chairman of Labour Party LP.
“NWC under the able leadership of Alhaji Lamidi Bashir Apapa already adopted the labour party presidential election petition filed in the presidential election petition tribunal for continuation in pursuit of recovery of the Labour Party 2023 mandate for Mr Peter Obi.
“Alhaji Lamidi Bashir Apapa the Acting National Chairman of Labour Party is twenty (20) years standing in the consistent service of the Labour Labour as the immediate Deputy National Chairman (South).
Labour Party also reiterates that the emergence of Alhaji Lamidi Bashir Apapa the Deputy National Chairman (South) as Acting National Chairman of Labour Party is consequent upon the Labour Party constitutional provisions 2019 as amended.
“Alhaji Lamidi Bashir Apapa was in line with LP constitution was duly appointed by the National Working Committee as Acting National Chairman, while Alhaji Saleh Lawan the Deputy National Secretary was appointed as Acting National Secretary.
The Party said that “the information and clarifications have become necessary and expedient in the interest of the general public to dissociate themselves from the criminal indictment of Abure by the Nigeria Police Investigation Report for which warrant of arrests have been procured against them.
“Finally, Abure is strictly under the laws of the federal republic of Nigeria from parading himself as National Officer of the Labour Party LP
