The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arrested a 48-year-old man, Adekola Adeshina, residing in Abuja, for sexually engaging a 10-year-old girl, Faith Solomon.

Our correspondent gathered that during interrogation by the police, the suspect confessed to have carried out the act on several occasions.

Confirming the incident in a statement obtained by our correspondent on Sunday, the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, said the police swung into action following a complaint by the victim’s mother, Rose Solomon.

SP Adeh said, “Operatives of The FCT Police Command attached to the Apo Divisional Police Headquarters, around 10:15 am on March 22, 2023, received a complaint from one Mrs Rose Solomon living close to Prince and Princess Estate.

“Mrs Solomon complained that she was suspecting her neighbor, Adekola Adeshina, a 48-year-old male, of sexually engaging her 10-year-old daughter, Faith Solomon.

“The suspect shortly after being arrested and interrogated, voluntarily elected in a written statement to have carried out the dastardly act severally.”

SP Adeh further noted that the 10-year-old, Faith Solomon, was undergoing medical examination, while the suspect remained in police custody and would be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.

She also noted that the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Dr Sadiq Abubakar, had called on parents and guardians to exercise a greater level of attention to changes in behavioral pattern of their wards around individuals and ensure that measures were put in place to shield them against sexual crimes.
