Ogun ADP’s Governorship Candidate, Sokunbi advises Ogun electorates to shun vote-buying
The Governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) for the March 11 governorship election Hon. Olanrewaju Kazeem Sokunbi, over the weekend appealed to Ogun voters to shun vote-buying.
Sokunbi told newsmen that vote-buying by politicians usually mortgaged the future of the electorates.
Salient Times report that Sokunbi would be contesting the election as the Governor of Ogun State in the March 11 guber election.
Sokunbi said that the electorate would not be able to demand their legitimate dividends of democracy from politicians after they would have assumed public offices.
He said that the politicians would assume they had settled the electorate with the peanuts they paid them through vote-buying before and during elections.
He, therefore, called on the electorate to eliminate and stand against vote-buying inform of money, food items or any financial inducement which he described as a serious political offence.
He advised the electorate to ensure they protected their votes on the day of elections by monitoring them from the polling units to the collation centres.
Sokunbi also said that he would promote and implement people oriented projects that will be beneficial to the generalities of the state if elected.
Sokunbi said he would focus on projects relating to education, health and the environment.
He said that he would also promote programmes that would improve the lives of the widows and the aged.
He added that he would ensure that his government initiates a policy that would take care of pensioners and all sectors of the society.
