The Action Democratic Party (ADP) has debunked the rumour that it has merged with the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the March 11, governorship election in Ogun State.

The ADP in a Statement personally signed by its State Chairperson, Yeye (Amb) Olufunke Olanrewaju, said the party, and all its candidates, have the capacity to win all elections

Olanrewaju said: “I want to say categorically and clearly too that the ADP has not merged with any other political party in Ogun State.”

She noted that the clarification became necessary following the clandestine move of some people to begin talks with All Progressives Congress, saying that ADP is not trading away any of its candidate with any political party.

“ADP is still a political party. We have not merged because merging into another political party is not something that could be done through the back door.

We are not unaware of move by APC to woo our Party leaders to collapse the structure of Our great party and endorse the governorship candidate of APC, who is the incumbent governor of the state.

A lot of people have expressed concern and we want to assure the people of the State and Party supporters that we are going to contest all elections including the governorship and house of Assembly seats, and we are very sure that all our candidates shall come out victorious as we have the wherewithal to win.

The Chairperson therefore, called on party members to ignore the rumour being spread by people who are not comfortable with the strides the party is making.

Olanrewaju stressed “They think, particularly in Ogun State, that they will get some mileage in the March 11 election. For those in Ogun State, we, ADP still have our candidates intact. Go and vote, don’t listen to rumours. There is no iota of truth in the information.”

Speaking on the recent defection of one Dr (Mrs) Funmilayo Idris to All Progressives Congress in Ogun East, Yeye Olanrewaju said the candidate had since been shown the way out of the Party for her failure to perform her financial obligations to the Party.

“Dr Idris who claimed to be our Party candidate for Ogun’ East Senatorial seat has been sacked for a long time over her refusal to pay her membership fees and her nomination fee”.

The ADP Chairperson said the Party is undeterred with her defection, saying is a ‘good radiance to bad rubbish ‘
