Ogun LP Crisis: Ex- President Obasanjo intervenes, Threatens To Arrest, Jail Aggrieved Party Members Working Against Obi’s Presidency
There seems to be an end in sight to the crisis rocking the Ogun State chapter of Labour Party as the former Nigerian President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has allegedly sue for peace among the warring factions.
Salient Times exclusively gathered that Chief Obasanjo who on Wednesday invited all factions to his Pent House at Olusegun Obasanjo presidential library threatened to deal with any individual or group within the Party working against the emergence of Peter Obi as Nigeria President
During the meeting, it was gathered that Chief Obasanjo came out hard on the National Publicity Secretary of Labour Party, Dr Abayomi Arabambi who was alleged to be agitating for the removal of the National Chairman of the Party, Barrister Julius Abure on allegation of fraud.
“The Ex-President physically assaults the embattled acting National Publicity Secretary of Labour Party, Abayomi Arabambi, by kicking him, and warning him to stay off any action that could jeopardize Obi’s emergence as President.
In a WhatsApp message circulated by a factional caretaker Chairman of LP in Ogun State, Comrade Lukman Jagun, confirmed that members of the Ogun caretaker committee and some aggrieved members (dissolved members of the Executive Council) led by Arabambi met with Obasanjo at his residence on Wednesday afternoon.
“During the meeting, the former President kicked the embattled LP spokesperson and ordered him to withdraw all petitions and court cases.
Arabambi had petitioned the police and anti-graft agencies to investigate allegations of fraud and money laundering involving the party chairman, Abure, in Enugu, Ebonyi, Edo and some other states.
“The select caretaker committee members and dissolved exco met with Chief Obasanjo yesterday. After both sides presented their cases, Obasanjo lambasted Arabambi and his cohorts that they should respect party supremacy,” the WhatsApp message reads
“He went further to warn Arabambi that if he doesn’t cooperate with the caretaker committee, he will get him arrested. Obasanjo even kicked Arabambi during the meeting.
“The meeting was held at Obasanjo’s house yesterday. He was blunt with him and asked him and others to withdraw all petitions or get arrested because of Obi.
When Salient Times called the state caretaker committee chairman, Lukman Jagun, who was in the meeting, on the phone, he said he was in a meeting at the time. He told our reporter to send a text. However, he failed to reply to the message hours after it was sent to him. He disconnected subsequent calls
Also, efforts by Our Correspondent to get Arabambi’s reaction failed as all calls put across to his phone were not picked.
