Asiwaju Adedamola Adesina calls on govt to prioritize education as he bags doctorate degree from British American University
A frontline politician and socialite, Asiwaju Adedamola has called on government both at the Federal and State levels to prioritize education and make it available to all Nigerians, saying that the current imbroglio between government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is unnecessary.
He opined that government has enough resources to fund education if it wants to.
Asiwaju Adedamola who said this after he was conferred with an honorary doctorate degree by British American University, Florida USA, said government can make education free if wastage is cut down and the right people come to position of leadership.
He called on the government to see to the lingering crisis in the educational sector, especially in relation to the government/ ASUU agreement as binding and work on its implementation.
“You can imagine now that we are about to change our Naira note, so many people are coming out with so many unused notes that are mutilated and thrown to the bin, because they don’t want to be caught pants down. People in position of leadership are very wasteful in this country, that is why they make the people believe that education can not be free. We have all the resources, if it is channeled to the right direction, education can be free.”
Reacting to the award, Dr Adedamola Adesina said the doctorate degree is long overdue having his first and master’s degree in politics a long time.
Dr Adedamola, former chairman of Ogun State Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) was so exited at the event, appreciated God for the achievement.
At the decoration held on the Saturday November 19, 2022 at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta Nigeria, according to the President of the University, Prof. Muhammad Omolaja, it was done to recognize various roles the awardees have contributed to the development of the nation.
He said the University; primarily to imbibe the culture of creativity, innovation and imagination into the students with disposition for life-long learning, research and entrepreneurial professionalism.
