A magistrate Court sitting in Isabo Abeokuta has sentenced a popular radio presenter, Amodu Oluwasinaayomi (Agba Oro) to two years imprisonment for defaming Prophet Mathias Adeyinka, of the Calvary Redemption Prayer Ministries, Abeokuta, Ogun state.
Agba Oro was sentenced alongside two other defendants, Segun Adeboye and Oluwafemi Olaide who were also jailed for 7 months respectively.
Delivering the judgement, Senior Magistrate S. S Sotayo declared that the trio were found guilty of defamation, misdemeanor and conducts likely to cause public peace, which is against Section 517, 375 and 249(d) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun state of Nigeria 2006.
In the sentencing, the first defendants, Segun Adeboye and third defendants, Oluwafemi Olaide were sentenced to three months on count one and two respectively
The second defendant, Amodu Oluwasinaayomi was sentenced to one year imprisonment on count one and two.
The trio were however sentenced to one month imprisonment on count three.
All sentences are to run concurrently, seeing the degree of culpability is very high as regards the second defendant and aggravating factors is immense in the commission of the offence.
The defendants who were found guilty of the charges appealed for leniency,
