….urges Nigerians to ignore external pressures on the economy
President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday, said his administration has met it’s projected non- oil revenue for 2025.
Recent reports indicated that the non-oil tax revenue for the first seven months of the year is N13.07trillion.
The President, who revealed this when he received the Buhari group on Tuesday, said his administration does not need to borrow any more money.
He also urged Nigerians to ignore external pressures on the economy.
Speaking further on the economy, President Tinubu declared that his administration had achieved its revenue mobilisation target, adding that he would no longer rely on borrowing to finance government operations. He stressed that prudent management, not debt, now anchors Nigeria’s economic direction.
Tinubu said: ” I can brag that Nigeria is no longer borrowing any dim from local banks to run the economy.
” I also no longer care about what President Donald Trump is doing on the other side.
” Thank you for believing in me. The economy is stabilised; nobody is trading piece of paper for exchange rate anymore. When I took over it was N1900 to a dollar. It’s N1,450 now. Rates has been stabilising now, you don’t have to know a CBN governor to be rich.
“All you have to do is export and import and create jobs for the people. What we need now is building the ship”
“We have met our revenue target. Nigeria is not borrowing again. Nobody is trading pieces of paper for exchange rate anymore. The naira is stabilising. What we need now is to build the infrastructure for export and import, to create jobs and opportunities for our people. That is my guarantee.”
On food security, the President announced that his government would roll out a nationwide mechanisation programme, with farm centres established across all regions to boost productivity, ensure food sovereignty and lift millions out of poverty.
“Our path to food security is clear. Every region will have a mechanised farm centre. We are committed to removing poverty from our land, and that is the work we have already started,” he said.
Tinubu urged his supporters not to be distracted by political noise ahead of 2027, emphasising that his focus remains on reforms that will guarantee prosperity for all Nigerians.
“Don’t let anybody threaten you with uncertainty. We know the direction we are going, and we are certain of success. The legacy you will inherit from me is total commitment to justice, transparency and progress. At the end of this journey, it will be a house of joy and prosperity for all,” he declared
Tinubu described the opposition parties as ” mere recreation centers”
Tinubu assured the group of an ambassadorial slot, adding that ” I couldn’t appoint everybody at once and thank you for your patience.
” I still have some slots for ambassadorial positions that that so many people are craving for. But it’s not easy stitching those names.
First of all we are fixing the economy. Bringing hope to the people. That is what we are looking for. And that is who is here.
Founding members of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) had on Tuesday stormed the Presidential Villa, Abuja, in a show of solidarity with President Bola Tinubu, pledging to deliver massive support for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
The delegation, led by former Nasarawa State Governor and ex-senator, Tanko Al-Makura, assured the President that the CPC bloc within the APC remained firmly behind his administration and would mobilise nationwide to ensure the party’s victory in the next election.
Al-Makura, speaking for the delegation, also assured Tinubu of unwavering loyalty:
“We are with you in loyalty, in person, and in purpose. May Almighty God grant you the wisdom and strength to continue leading our nation.”
While commending Tinubu for steering the country through challenging economic times and for sustaining peace and stability, the former Nasarawa state Governor also lauded the President for honouring the memory of their late leader and mentor, former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Recalling the CPC years before the historic merger that birthed the APC in 2013, Al-Makura described Tinubu and Buhari as two visionaries whose political partnership provided the foundation for justice, equity, and national renewal.
“Mr. President, you and President Muhammadu Buhari shared more than a political alliance; you shared a vision of a Nigeria built on justice, economic sovereignty, and good governance. Together, you conceptualised and built a platform that remains our pride and our cause,” Al-Makura said.
He pledged that the CPC family, comprising former governors, ministers, lawmakers, women leaders and party executives, would work tirelessly to consolidate Tinubu’s reforms and sustain the APC legacy ahead of 2027.
